DAY 2..

Joe, Mallen and I started the day by heading to the Tokyo Auto Salon again. On the way back from the car show, we stopped by Shinonome for Super Autobacs, which is a giant supermarket for aftermarket car parts. We then ventured back to Shibuya, where we hopped on the Tokyo Denentoshi Line all the way to the Minami Michida station, where we went to Up Garage, which is a used parts store that specializes in high performance aftermarket parts.

Sad story. When we got to Up Garage, a pair of brand new Project Mu 2-piece brake rotors caught my eye. They were advertised, "DC2 ITR 98 Spec Rotors" and were priced at 19,900Yen, which is approximately $200. I immediately hopped on the deal, as I knew the going rate for these rotors was $750 brand new. The 16"x16"x6" box weighed probably 30-35 pounds, and I was worried about how I would carry these home. I was struggling trying to hold onto this odd shaped heavy item. Halfway to the train station, Mallen decided that he wanted to rest his feet, so we found a spot to sit down. At this point, I decided to check out the item, and make sure it was the right part. When I opened the box, I was very disappointed to find out that it was not as advertised, and that it was for an older model (96 Spec). So I had to lug the brake rotors back to the shop and ask for a refund. The workers were laughing at me when they realized the mistake I made.

We then returned to the Hotel and met back up with Karin, Jaime and John. We then took the train out to Shibuya, where we ate and walked around. We then took the train back to Shinjuku, where we visited the Donki store, and walked through the redlight district.

More Engrish at the Tokyo Auto Salon..

So my "hook" at ARC Japan, Maiko, no longer works there. Joe, Mallen and I were standing in front of the ARC booth when one of the employee's approaches me and says, "Are you Ryan?" I stood there in shock and was like, "uhh.. yeah! how did you know?" He then proceeded to tell me that "Maiko, No ARC." He mentioned that he remembered me from 2 years ago, when I purchased a lot of parts off Maiko. Strange how he remembers. But anyways, he gave me his contact information and told me to contact him if I need anything. He is going to find out if he can get/sell me one of these cool license plate bracket. Pretty neat!!

After Tokyo Auto Salon, we decided to eat Udon noodles. Joe isn't too good with chop sticks, and all the forks they had were kids forks. Look how small the fork was. The fork also had Koala bears and a rainbow on it, hahaha..
